The nuns’ beach, like all the Italian coastline, is publicly owned, and local officials say their lease will soon be put up for auction, along with those of other beachfront clubs. Vance attended a Mass in the Roman rite with his family at Old St. Mary’s Church in Cincinnati, reports Crisis Magazine editor Eric Sammons on x.com, who was present. “It was nice to see J.D. Vance and his beautiful family at Mass this morning,” Sammons wrote on X on August 23. Sammons said Vance lives nearby and that his family attends several Cincinnati-area parishes when in town. Construction began in late 2024, with a Neoclassical design inspired by Roman basilicas and incorporating Baroque elements. The church will house restored Carrara marble altars dating from 1925. The existing church will be converted into expanded parish and classroom space.
